Pinging is basically a way of notifying the search engines (hence, the internet community) that you have written or posted something new to your website or blog page. There are quite a number of pinging sites that are available to for you to choose from.

The reason why pinging is so important is because pinging your urls increases the chances of the search engine alerts and thereby prompting the search engine to index the change quickly. Some blog providers such as Blogger or WordPress will allow you to automatically ping a number of services everytime you publish a new post.

Now, most marketers only ping their blog content and then create backlinks to the content by posting their content to web2.0 sites, article directories and social bookmarkingsites. Many marketers are only pinging their contents for backlinking purposes and quite a handful don’t think to ping all those baklinks! Pinging is very easy to do, yet many ignore it.

Although pinging can be time consuming and having to ping each URL individually can be quite tedious, but this great tool makes it very quick to ping mass urls.

Pinging Backlinks – How to Ping your Large List of URLs

1. Go to pingfarm.com.
2. Cut and paste your urls into the first box, or upload your text file. Ensure you place one URL per line.
3. Scroll down to the “Services to Ping” section, and check the services that you would like to ping.
4. Click the “MASS PING!” button.

Useful Tips:

• Do not ping a service more than once per day, or you risk your blog or website being flagged as spam.

• Majority of sites are set up to ping urls every time a new post is published, however, they are not normally set to ping urls every time there is a new comment. Therefore, whenever you post a comment on blogs that are DoFollow and have Comment Luv, take the link to that comment or the link to the article you commented on and ping that permalink.

• If you post on a forum and you leave a link, I take that forum post permalink and ping it!

• Be careful with some social bookmarking sites that will have your personal page in scripts  when you notice this, don’t bother wasting your time pinging.
