Pinging Backlinks – Best Way To Ping Your Content Backlinks For High SERP Rank

by Remi Badozi on May 5, 2011

Many wonder if pinging backlinks is a waste of time and that one should leave it for search engines to eventually find the backlinks. Well, if that is you…. feel free to call me impatient. If you are a diligent link builder, my question to you is have you been pinging the list of pinging_backlinksbacklinks that you create? If your answer is No then you are not making the most of those links!

If you are at all serious about ranking high in the SERPs, then you really should be pinging your backlinks, mainly because it will get your backlinks indexed more quickly.

Well, the problem with not pinging backlinks is that it is quite possible to work so hard building backlinks that never get indexed or takes months (if ever) for your backlinks to be indexed.

I came across the most awesome free tool that has saved me a lot of time in my link building efforts. Now, before I tell you about this fantastic tool. For those who are not aware of what pinging is and why you need it, allow me to briefly enlighten you.

What is Pinging?

Pinging is basically a way of notifying the search engines (hence, the internet community) that you have written or posted something new to your website or blog page. There are quite a number of pinging sites that are available to for you to choose from.

Pinging Backlinks – Why It Is Important

The reason why pinging is so important is because pinging your urls increases the chances of the search engine alerts and thereby prompting the search engine to index the change quickly. Some blog providers such as Blogger or WordPress will allow you to automatically ping a number of services everytime you publish a new post.

Now, most marketers only ping their blog content and then create backlinks to the content by posting their content to web2.0 sites, article directories and social bookmarkingsites. Many marketers are only pinging their contents for backlinking purposes and quite a handful don’t think to ping all those baklinks! Pinging is very easy to do, yet many ignore it.

Although pinging can be time consuming and having to ping each URL individually can be quite tedious, but this great tool makes it very quick to ping mass urls.

PingFarm is a ping utility that allows you to mass-ping your urls within minutes. So, all those contents that you’ve sent to social bookmarking sites such as prosterous, web 2.0 sites like bloggers and article directories like ezine articles can all be pinged!

Unlike pingomatic, pingfarm allows you to add as many urls as you like at once. It also lets you import a list of urls from a text file where your backlinks urls are. The most incredidible thing about this tool is that it is 100% FREE!

Other benefits are that you have the option to add an RSS and you can also pick which servers you would like to ping. If you are not in the habit of noting and recording your backlinks urls, I urge you to start doing so.

Pinging Backlinks – How to Ping your Large List of URLs

  1. Go to
  2. Cut and paste your urls into the first box, or upload your text file. Ensure you place one URL per line.
  3. Scroll down to the “Services to Ping” section, and check the services that you would like to ping.
  4. Click the “MASS PING!” button.

Useful Tips:

  • Do not ping a service more than once per day, or you risk your blog or website being flagged as spam.
  • Majority of sites are set up to ping urls every time a new post is published, however, they are not normally set to ping urls every time there is a new comment. Therefore, whenever you post a comment on blogs that are DoFollow and have Comment Luv, take the link to that comment or the link to the article you commented on and ping that permalink.
  • If you post on a forum and you leave a link, I take that forum post permalink and ping it!
  • Be careful with some social bookmarking sites that will have your personal page in scripts when you notice this, don’t bother wasting your time pinging.

Nice Post Remi,

People often forget to ping their backlinks. What worked for me is a ping toolbar where you usually just ping the page that I leave my content on.

Thanks for stoopping by Claude. You are right, a number of people either forget or don’t even see the need to ping their backlinks. Thanks to Ping Farm all those backlink urls can be mass pinged rather than doing them individually – great tool!

i find many backlink for my site but i dont ping them, can u tell me its urgent to ping or its just a tick for SEO. thanks

Remi Badozi July 8, 2011 at 10:30 pm

Pinging is not at all a trick for SEO, it is basically a technique of getting your links indexed fast.
Whilst backlinking is a way of getting other sites to put a hyperlink on their site pointing to
your site.

Therefore when you ping your backlinks, you are in essence notifying those websites that
accept pings, to check out the backlinks you have on your site and this ultimately gets
your backlinks indexed (noticed) quickly as sometimes it can take quite awhile to get links

I hope that helps.

All the best

Right. Pinging is not a trick at all. It just help to index your backlinks fast. However, if you have a lot of backlinks, it’s better not to ping them all at once. do it slowly. 🙂

Mass Ping Site August 10, 2011 at 9:47 pm

Thanks for letting everyone know about Remi! 😀

We designed PingFarm so that it could help out every webmaster. We say sites that were offering ping services but they weren’t of good quality or they charged $20 or more to ping a couple thousand links.

When we stated in the webmaster game none of us had much money so we didn’t think it was right to charge people for pinging their lists.

We also own a backlinking company so we know exactly how the pinging process works 😀

Thanks Again Remi!

What can I say…..I feel so honour you took the time out to come and thank me!

Thank you so much for providing PingFarm, an incredible tool for FREE!
Yes you are right…..there are a number of ping services out there that are no where
close to the quality in PingFarm, yet they are carging for it!

I really appreciate your stopping by>

But how long does it take for a backlink is really add to your website. How long does a ping need? Is it weeks? Days? Months?

Remi Badozi August 22, 2011 at 11:40 am

Nobody can tell you exactly how long it would all depends on the quality of the backlinks. Google doesn’t list every backlinks to your website.

Just keep doing what you are doing and don’t focus on how many links show up in a search. All of those programs that check your backlinks are not always accurate anyway… What’s important is where you are placed in the search engine.

Use Social Bookmarking sites that are high quality site according to Google also when you bookmark your website with Social Bookmarking site you will find most of them are authority site also so you will get very quick backlink.

Yes pinging is a great way to let the search engines now that you have updated your site. I always use pingfarm especially for pinging and generating one rss feed from many rss feeds. I sometimes use linklicious and then use the rss feed generated there and submit it to pingfarms feed submitter. When you combine both tools you will have a great index rate soon.

Remi Badozi December 22, 2011 at 6:56 pm

I’m not quite sure what you mean by large drop in efficiency? Are you talking about traffic, speed of your site, ranking??? Remember pinging is basically telling Search Engines that you have updated your site so that your site is indexed quicker than it normally will.

Ted January 10, 2012 at 8:37 pm

Beattie St Clair June 19, 2012 at 1:32 pm

Searching about pinging you came up and I love the way you expalin it 🙂 Do you think that pinging works as well now as it always has after all the recent Google changes?

Remi Badozi June 22, 2012 at 8:05 pm

Hi Beatie

Provided you have quality content and neat backlinking approach that is approved by Google, you will have no problem with pinging as all you are doing is notifying search engines of your content….that will otherwise take a while to index.

Thanks for stopping by.

Jonson September 14, 2012 at 4:11 am

Pinging backlinks are really good for your sites but that is not all you have to do much more.

Adam Fletcher September 2, 2013 at 4:06 am

I am actually new to pinging backlinks. I just found out about Ping Farm a few days ago and I am excited to see how my backlinks do. I am used to doing all the work for backlinks and waiting months, years, if ever to see them show up. So I am going to try this and see how it works because it can’t hurt any right now! Thanks for the post.
